Professor Richard Leach is a Consultant Physician at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, accredited in general, respiratory and intensive care medicine, and an Honorary Professor of Medicine at King's College London.

Education & training: Graduated from the University of Manchester, undertook fellowships including at Johns Hopkins, and was appointed Consultant at St Thomas' Hospital in 1994.

Clinical interests: Advanced respiratory failure, acute and peri-operative medicine and critical care, with integration of non-invasive ventilation, oxygen therapy and escalation planning.

Research, teaching & leadership: Former Clinical Director for Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and Medical Director at GSTT, with national roles contributing to NICE and RCP guideline development and education in acute medicine.

Service & systems: Leads high-reliability acute and respiratory pathways with protocolised assessment, safety metrics and CQC-evidenced service improvement.

Selected publications & contributions: Textbooks and peer-reviewed work in respiratory and acute medicine, alongside national committee service and invited lectures.
