Information on Prof. Peter Mortimer
Professor Peter Mortimer is a Consultant Dermatologist at St George’s University Hospitals with an international reputation in lymphovascular medicine and the diagnosis and management of lymphoedema.
Education & training: Trained in dermatology in Sheffield and Oxford before appointment to St George’s, where he developed one of the UK’s leading lymphoedema services.
Clinical interests: Breast-cancer related lymphoedema, primary lymphatic anomalies, melanoma-related lymphangiogenesis and the full range of adult medical dermatology embedded within lymphovascular pathways.
Research, teaching & leadership: Research focuses on the genetics and mechanisms of lymphoedema and on cancer-related lymphatic dysfunction, with extensive peer-reviewed publications and international education in lymphovascular medicine.
Service & systems: Builds MDT-based lymphoedema pathways integrating imaging, compression, skin-care and surgical referral where appropriate, with robust outcomes audit and patient education.
Selected publications & contributions: Widely cited work on primary and secondary lymphoedema and lymphatic biology, plus expert roles for patient groups and professional societies.
