Information on Prof. Kevin O Neill
Professor Kevin O’Neill is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Head of Neurosurgery at Imperial College Healthcare, based at Charing Cross Hospital, with extensive experience in brain and spine cancer and complex neurovascular disease.
Education & training: Graduated from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School and Imperial College London in 1989 with an intercalated BSc in Neuroscience, completed broad neurosurgical training at Atkinson Morley’s, Great Ormond Street and the National Hospital, and attained FRCS before consultant appointment at Imperial in 1999.
Clinical interests: Neuro-oncology including glioma and metastatic brain tumours, complex cerebrovascular disease and subarachnoid haemorrhage, and comprehensive general neurosurgery with advanced microsurgical and adjunctive technologies.
Research, teaching & leadership: Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, former Chair and trustee of the Brain Tumour Research Campaign, and active faculty and society member across SBNS, BNOS and EANS with invited national and international lectures.
Service & systems: Leads MDT-embedded neuro-oncology and neurovascular pathways across a major tertiary centre, develops protocolised peri-operative care and contributes to governance, audit and service improvement across Imperial and partner units.
Selected publications & contributions: Peer-reviewed and professional outputs in brain tumour and neurovascular surgery, public advocacy for translational research and service quality in neuro-oncology.
