Professor (Dr) Katherine Henderson MBE is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Immediate Past President of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (term 2019–2022).

Leadership: The first woman elected RCEM President, she led national advocacy on safe staffing, crowding, patient flow and sustainable career structures in emergency care.

Awards: Appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2021 for services to the National Health Service.

Clinical interests: Whole-system urgent and emergency pathways, risk management, patient experience and quality improvement in high-acuity settings.

Education & training: Long-standing EM consultant practice in central London with a parallel portfolio in professional standards, appraisal and CPD.

Service & systems: Designs measurement-based improvement programmes, safety-netted discharge processes and collaborative pathways with primary and community services.
