Miss Deirdre Lyons is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Imperial College Healthcare and Lead for Colposcopy, heading the hospital-based cervical screening programme across the trust's colposcopy services.
Education & training: Qualified in 1990 from the National University of Ireland, trained in obstetrics and gynaecology with specialist accreditation in 2001, and appointed lead for colposcopy in 2002 with subsequent trust-wide screening coordination roles.
Clinical interests: Colposcopy, HPV triage and management of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, complex benign gynaecology and vulval dermatoses within rapid-access pathways.
Research, teaching & leadership: London-wide quality-assurance leadership in colposcopy, advisory roles to public-health bodies and ongoing education for trainees and primary-care referrers on screening standards and audit.
Service & systems: Designs evidence-based colposcopy pathways integrating QA metrics, structured recall and patient-information resources across Imperial sites.
