Mr Akash Patel BSc(Hons) MBBS MRCS MSc FRCS(Tr&Orth) is a double-fellowship trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon and Associate Professor at University College London, specialising in hip and knee disorders with NHS practice at the Royal Free London and private practice in Central London.

Education & training: Graduated from UCL in 2005, completed Imperial North West London orthopaedic training and UK hip/knee fellowships at Royal Berkshire and the Royal Free, followed by international exposure at world-class centres.

Clinical interests: Hip and knee arthroscopy including cartilage and meniscal preservation and ACL reconstruction, primary hip and knee replacement, and complex sports and trauma care with biologic adjuncts where appropriate.

Research, teaching & leadership: Associate Professor at UCL with research and teaching in hip and knee surgery and enhanced recovery, and regular faculty for courses on soft-tissue knee and arthroplasty decision-making.

Service & systems: Develops evidence-based, enhanced-recovery pathways integrating pre-habilitation, day-case eligibility and structured outcomes including PROMs and return-to-function testing.

Selected publications & contributions: Clinical research and educational content in arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction and arthroplasty, with public engagement on injury prevention and rehabilitation.
