Honorary consultant specialising in ankle arthritis and stem cell surgery.

Professor Andrew Goldberg is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and a Professor at University College London, internationally recognised for research and innovation in ankle arthritis and reconstruction.

Education & training: UK orthopaedic training with fellowships in foot and ankle surgery and higher degrees in clinical research and innovation, followed by consultant and academic appointments at RNOH and UCL.

Clinical interests: End-stage ankle osteoarthritis including total ankle replacement and ankle fusion, complex deformity correction, revision surgery and salvage procedures, and minimally invasive techniques for hindfoot pathology.

Research, teaching & leadership: Chief and senior investigator on pragmatic trials comparing ankle arthroplasty with arthrodesis and on studies of patient-reported outcomes and implant performance, with supervision of clinical fellows and postgraduate researchers.

Service & systems: Develops shared-decision clinics and enhanced-recovery pathways that align imaging, gait analysis and personalised physiotherapy with registry-based outcomes auditing.

Selected publications & contributions: High-impact outputs on ankle replacement, fusion outcomes and PROMs methodology, and invited contributions to consensus statements and surgical textbooks.
