Dr Emma Craythorne MBChB FRCP is a Consultant Dermatologist, Dermatological and Laser Surgeon and Mohs Micrographic Surgeon at the St John's Institute of Dermatology, Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, where she leads the Specialist Skin Cancer MDT and the clinical skin-imaging programme using reflectance confocal microscopy.
Education & training: Completed core medical training in Edinburgh, higher specialist training in dermatology at King's College London and a Royal College-accredited fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and laser surgery at St John's.
Clinical interests: Diagnosis and surgical treatment of skin cancer including Mohs micrographic surgery, management of complex scarring and vascular or pigmentary disorders, and advanced laser surgery integrated with dermatologic oncology pathways.
Research, teaching & leadership: Leads translational adoption of in-vivo skin imaging and contributes to clinical trials and technology evaluation in cutaneous oncology, with regular national and international teaching.
Service & systems: Runs protocolised one-stop skin-cancer and laser clinics with dermoscopy, confocal imaging, day-case surgery and ERAS-style aftercare, and PROMs-based outcomes tracking.
Selected publications & contributions: Peer-reviewed and educational outputs in Mohs surgery, confocal microscopy and laser dermatology, with public-facing education on skin health.
