Professor of Psychiatry of Older People at UCL; leads dementia risk and prevention research.

Professor Gill Livingston is Professor of Psychiatry of Older People at University College London and a consultant clinician working with people with suspected or confirmed dementia and their families, with internationally influential research and service-improvement work.

Education & training: Clinical academic career at UCL with higher training in old-age psychiatry and interdisciplinary research methods, progressing to senior leadership roles in dementia research and care innovation.

Clinical interests: Comprehensive assessment and management of dementia and associated neuropsychiatric symptoms, carer support and care-home mental-health pathways informed by evidence-based psychosocial interventions.

Research, teaching & leadership: Leads programmes on prevention, risk reduction and post-diagnostic support including the START programme for family carers, supervises doctoral and clinical fellows and advises national and international guideline bodies.

Service & systems: Embeds PROMs and pragmatic trials in routine services across memory clinics and community teams with strong attention to underserved communities and health-equity.

Selected publications & contributions: Highly cited papers and consensus statements in dementia epidemiology, interventions and policy, with invited keynotes and public-engagement work.
