Dr Paula Murphy is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at East London NHS Foundation Trust and a private practitioner in Central London, with two decades of experience focused on women’s mental health, trauma and medico-legal psychiatry.

Education & training: Completed higher training in forensic psychiatry at the Maudsley in London, registered with the General Medical Council and Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, with additional roles in postgraduate medical education and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London.

Clinical interests: Complex trauma and PTSD, the psychiatric impact of domestic and sexual violence, coercive control and neglect, and comprehensive general adult psychiatry for women across the life course.

Medico-legal practice: Experienced expert witness providing reports across criminal, civil, asylum and family proceedings with careful risk assessment and trauma-informed recommendations.

Research, teaching & leadership: Publications and national presentations in medico-legal and forensic psychiatry and elected roles within the RCPsych Forensic Faculty, with ongoing quality-improvement in women’s services.
