Mr Nicholas Thomas is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at King's College Hospital with specialist interests in skull base and endoscopic pituitary surgery and complex spinal surgery, and is a leading member of the London Neurosurgery Partnership.
Education & training: Qualified from The London Hospital in 1988, achieved FRCS(Glasg) and FRCS(Eng) in 1993, trained at Atkinson Morley Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the National Hospital, and completed a spinal fellowship at Ohio State University before appointment as a consultant at age 33.
Clinical interests: Endoscopic pituitary and anterior skull base surgery, lateral skull base approaches and complex cervical and thoracolumbar reconstruction within multidisciplinary MDTs.
Research, teaching & leadership: Widely acknowledged for pioneering endoscopic skull base approaches in the UK with national society leadership and sustained roles training fellows and registrars in pituitary and skull base techniques.
Service & systems: Designs integrated skull base and complex spine pathways linking endocrine, ENT, neuro-otology and oncology services with structured imaging protocols and outcomes review.
Selected publications & contributions: Invited keynotes and publications on pituitary and skull base surgery and service design, with advisory work for neurofibromatosis care networks.
