Mr Sam Gidwani is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals since 2009 and an orthopaedic lead for hand surgery, with private practice at OneWelbeck and HCA sites.

Education & training: Graduated from King's College Hospital in 1995; higher surgical training in London and Bristol; advanced hand-surgery fellowships in Oxford, Derby and Brisbane; awarded the British Society for Surgery of the Hand Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Surgery in 2011.

Clinical interests: Comprehensive hand, wrist and forearm disorders including trauma, tendon and nerve injury, wrist arthroscopy, carpal instability and complex degenerative conditions, with strong integration of specialist hand therapy.

Research, teaching & leadership: Former Head of the Orthopaedic Department at Guy's (2014–2017); regular faculty for national hand courses and contributor to service audit and guideline adoption in wrist and hand surgery.

Service & systems: Advocates non-operative management where appropriate with therapy-first pathways and shared decision-making; delivers streamlined day-case surgical care with structured rehabilitation.

Selected publications & contributions: Clinical reviews and education on wrist arthroscopy, ligament injury and peri-operative rehabilitation in hand surgery.
