Dr Deane Halfpenny MBBCh FRCA FFPMRCA is a Consultant in Musculoskeletal Pain Medicine with a special interest in spinal and neuropathic pain, practising at The London Orthopaedic Clinic with interventional lists at King Edward VII’s and The Princess Grace Hospital.

Education & training: Medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, anaesthesia training and FRCA at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, early academic/lecturing roles in pain medicine and one of the UK’s first advanced pain fellowships leading to FFPMRCA.

Clinical interests: Low back and radicular pain, whiplash and myofascial pain, complex regional pain syndrome and persistent post-surgical pain, with image-guided interventions including epidural and facet joint procedures, radiofrequency and orthobiologic injections such as PRP/ACP when indicated.

Research, teaching & leadership: National and international lectures in pain medicine and ongoing service-evaluation work in integrated spinal pathways, with multidisciplinary clinics embedded in orthopaedic services.

Service & systems: One-stop assessment integrating diagnostics, medication optimisation and targeted intervention with rehabilitation and psychology input, and standardised safety-net follow-up.

Selected publications & contributions: Patient-facing education on orthobiologics and evidence-based pain pathways and professional talks on CRPS, neuropathic pain and ultrasound-guided procedures.
