Mr Colin Hart MD FRCS is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon appointed to the Royal Free Hospital in 2015, with a subspecialist interest in complex abdominal wall reconstruction in addition to comprehensive colorectal practice.
Education & training: Read Medicine at Leicester, completed higher surgical training across London and the East Midlands and was awarded an MD by University College London for translational research prior to consultant appointment at the Royal Free.
Clinical interests: Complex abdominal wall hernias and reconstruction, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, adhesional and other bowel obstruction, and benign perianal disease such as fissure, haemorrhoids and fistula, using keyhole and open techniques as appropriate.
Research, teaching & leadership: Active educator and invited speaker on abdominal wall and colorectal pathways, with ongoing audit and service-improvement work and participation in multidisciplinary colorectal cancer governance.
Service & systems: Implements shared-decision clinics and enhanced-recovery protocols with imaging-led planning, structured peri-operative optimisation and PROMs-based follow-up across Royal Free and partner sites.
