Professor Dame Valerie Lund DBE is Emeritus Professor of Rhinology at the UCL Ear Institute and an Honorary Consultant ENT Surgeon at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospital, University College London Hospitals.

Education & training: Senior academic and clinical appointments at UCL/UCLH since 1987, progressing from Senior Lecturer to Professor of Rhinology and subsequently Emeritus Professor, alongside long-standing tertiary rhinology practice.

Clinical interests: Comprehensive nose and sinus disease including chronic rhinosinusitis, hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia, skull-base and orbital extension disease, and rare sinonasal tumours treated with advanced endoscopic techniques.

Research, teaching & leadership: International leader in rhinology who established and evaluated extended endoscopic sinus surgery, led landmark national audits and consensus statements, and supervised generations of surgeons and scientists.

Awards & honours: Appointed DBE for services to rhinology and received multiple national and international distinctions recognising contributions to rhinology and surgical innovation.

Selected publications & contributions: High-impact papers on sinonasal tumours, chronic rhinosinusitis and surgical outcomes, with major roles in guideline development and education worldwide.
