Professor Chris J. Hammond MA MD FRCP FRCOphth is the Frost Professor of Ophthalmology at King's College London and a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Research focus: Genetic epidemiology of common eye diseases including glaucoma, myopia, dry eye and age-related cataract, leveraging twin studies and genome-wide association approaches.

Clinical interests: Adult and paediatric strabismus (squint) including surgical and botulinum-toxin management, with multidisciplinary orthoptic and paediatric interfaces.

Leadership & teaching: Former London Deanery/RCOphth training programme director and regional adviser; supervises clinical–academic trainees and contributes to national research networks.

Publications & impact: Highly cited body of work identifying genetic and environmental determinants of ocular traits, informing risk stratification and prevention.
