Information on Prof. Usha Menon
Professor Usha Menon is Professor of Gynaecological Cancer at University College London and a Consultant Gynaecologist at UCLH, internationally recognised for leadership in screening and prevention of gynaecological malignancies with a focus on ovarian cancer.
Education & training: Medical training in India followed by senior academic appointments at UCL, leading the Gynaecological Cancer Research Centre and contributing to the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL on capacity building and trial methodology.
Clinical interests: Risk assessment and early detection in ovarian and endometrial cancer, management of familial risk and integration of research into complex benign and malignant gynaecology.
Research, teaching & leadership: Chief investigator and senior leader for large multicentre studies including the UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening and related cohorts, with sustained output in biomarker discovery, screening algorithms and implementation science.
Service & systems: Embeds trial portfolios and precision-prevention boards into routine UCLH care, aligning genetics, imaging and translational research with patient pathways and outcomes audit.
